Brad’s Backlog – Mirror’s Edge

Awesome. That’s what this game is, and who would have ever thought that a game essentially all about running and jumping could be this good.

Now I know I am about 5 years late to the party on this one but what a cracking little title it is. As many of you that follow this site will know, jumping is not for me. Can’t do it – I suck at classic Mario, struggle to make even the simplest of leaps in Lego Batman but yet I really enjoyed Mirror’s Edge.

Once you get to grips with the very jumpy style of play required to master this game it all becomes incredibly fluid and super cool. Much like Alan Wake your best bet is to run away from those wishing to end you. There is of course the option to fight, and at times you have to, but most of the time running and jumping is whats called for. The sense of urgency and panic are superb! Charging through corridors and bursting out into the bright light of day with only a few seconds to decided if you can, or indeed should, make a huge leap of faith to safety is some of the most fun I have had in a while (I don’t go out much). I was even treated to a cut-scene with this guy pulling this face the whole time – Awesome!

There were of course a large number of falling to my death moments. I guess this was to be expected due to my inability to jump almost anything in a computer game. These moments were however far out numbered by the moments of feeling truly bad ass at running and jumping over things!

That’s 5 down. 9 to go!

P.S Check out this little vid of all my favorite bits….  I do love the shooters!
